Eugene Francis (Gene) Kranz (Toledo, Ohio, August 17, 1933) is a retired American NASA flight director and manager. Kranz served as flight director during the Gemini and Apollo programs, and is best known for his actions in rescuing the Apollo 13 crew in 1970.
