In 1961 this locomotive was rebuilt, using parts from locomotive 45 024 and a boiler from the Baureihe 22. The locomotive was given the number 18 201, later 02 0201-0. It was only used for testing purposes: it was the only GDR locomotive capable of running at 180 km/h, so that it could test carriages intended for export.
