Catalogue information
In the spring of 1954 the picture album "The game" was released with the protagonists Plofhaasje and Slofhaasje, with 100 colored transfer pictures including 8 pictures for a game board. Bolletje released six “scrapbooks” with pictures between around 1950 and 1960. The first three albums that Bolletje releases have so-called “decalco” or “transfer” plates, which were also included with some brands of chewing gum. They consist of a waterproof paper on which an image has been applied that becomes sticky in water and can be stuck on the page in the book, after which the paper is pulled off. This is the predecessor of the sticker plates. What is special about these images is that they are not bound to the rectangular outer outline; the image can be limited to just the drawing with no background. A major disadvantage, however, is that the plates remain sticky for a long time and thus easily also stick to the opposite page; if the pages are then pulled loose, the image will be significantly damaged or even come off completely. Complete booklets with little damage are therefore rare (thanks to ANPA picture archive).
