The Varianto series first entered the Schuco range in 1951 and was built up to and including 1966. At that time, the range was repeatedly expanded with new vehicle types, with the Varianto-Fuel-Car 3046 being added in 1957. It has a clockwork mechanism with three different driving speeds for slow, medium and fast forward travel as well as a stop function, all operated by a lever on the chassis. The direction of travel can be controlled e.g. by a remote control shaft or it runs accordingly on the track of the Varianto layout. There was no reissue of the Varianto series.
