Kiazim Emin Bey, a Turk of Swiss origin, founded the Turmac tobacco factory in 1920 in Zevenaar with Willem Carel Buschhammer. The tobacco was imported from Turkey and Macedonia, hence the name Turkish Macedonian Tobacco Company, or Turmac.
