Originally designed as an alternative to the Rover 2000, the Triumph 2000 was launched in 1963 and ran until 1969 with production totalling over 120.000. Improved upon in 1969, the MkII was launched to much acclaim with a lower bonnet line, longer nose and tail, bigger boot, full width grille with built-in indicator/sidelamp clusters and turbo wheel trims to externally identify it. Mechanical changes included a/c electrics and a bigger brake servo with engine power increased to ’75. This ran until 1977 and production totalled almost 100.000.
