Compilation of Pete Felleman Liner Notes by Studs Terkel. Funckler / Artone A legendary label from the end of the 50s, beginning of the 60s. Founded with money from Dutch oil barons with a jazz hobby. John Vis and Pete Felleman had the vision to release LPs and EPs in the famous plastic sleeves from labels such as Chess, Roulette, Cadence, Specialty etc. in the Netherlands from the beginning of the 60s. Also many singles from the starting Motown Motorcity label. Beautiful photo sleeves, often a full page in the Muziek Expres from 1962. Artone or Funckler was the label. I assume that Marshall Chess also lobbied here, just like in the UK, for reissues of his Chess label. The story should be described properly again. Anyway, the label produced many legendary sleeve singles that are very sought after by collectors. The LPs, which were for sale at the time for 9.90, are still for sale for a reasonable price.
