This is the first installment of the book edition of Joachim, an ongoing comic strip published in four regional newspapers from September 15, 1962, to April 23, 1963. Almost all of the comics shown are based on the original drawings, which are housed in the Literature Museum in The Hague. Only the first two installments are missing from this collection; they are based on prints held by the Toonder Compagnie. The texts were taken from newspaper clippings and corrected for grammatical and typographical errors. Furthermore, the text was adapted in several places to align with the drawings.
