The Philips CD-i 400 series was released in 1994 whan Philips realised that video games were a major application for its CD-i units. The 400 series was a simplified and less expensive model with the looks of a classical video game console. This model is the CD-I 450 with video cartridge (=CD-I 550). Several CD-i series were produced : - The 200 series : this is a home-multimedia console. These are the most common and well known models. - The 300 series : these were handheld systems - The 400 series : video game consoles - The 600 series : professional units
