Details
The Microvision was the First handheld (with separate game cassettes). The game cassettes were in fact the front panel of the unit. Each game had a specific screen design and dedicated buttons (not all buttons were used by some of the games). The unit was sold in combination with the game Block Buster, a Breakout type game. Two versions were produced : one with an Intel 8021 processor (which used two 9V batteries) and one with the TI TMS1100 (only one 9V battery was sufficient because of the lower power consumption). The Microvision sold relatively well, but because of the lack of games (a total of 12) and technical problems (very basic screen, limited 16x16 resolution), production was discontinued in 1981.
