This free-standing two-story hut is a romanticised version of a small tropical plantation villa. Robert Stern's first central Chicago commission is this clothing store, suggestive of turn-of-the-century colonial prefabricated metal structures. Stern has created a prototypical make-believe exotic backdrop for this fashionable retailer.
