Apart from the shapes of the tail and cockpit, the C.48 prototype designed by Hergé has strong similarities with the Miles M.12 Mohawk, an aircraft designed for Charles Lindbergh by the British engineer Frederick George Miles and manufactured by Phillips & Powis Aircraft Ltd in 1937.
