The PlayStation 2 (PS2) was the successor of the popular PS1. A total of over 150 million units (as of March 2011) have been sold worldwide. This is far more than its competitors Xbox (24 million) and the Gamecube (22 million). The PS2 also otsold its predecessor, the PS1 (102 million). In 2004 a smaller version, the Slimline, was introduced. Despite of the introduction of the PS3 in 2006 the PS2 is still being produced and supported by Sony.
