Details
The Fairchild Channel F was the First (1976) game console with exchangeable (ROM-) game cassettes. The original version had two hard wired controllers that could be stored in a compartment on top of the unit. The Fairchild was only sold in the USA. In Europe it was marketed by different companies: - Saba Videoplay (W-Germany) - Nordmende Teleplay (W-Germany) - ITT Tele-Match Processor (W-Germany) - Luxor Video Entertainment System (Sweden) - Grandstand (Great Brittain) Game cassettes were released for all these systems, they are however completely interchangeable. These units were so basic that they could be used on both PAL and NTSC TV’s. In 1978 the rights were sold to Zircon that released the Channel F System 2, a redesigned version with removable controllers.
