3DO was a video game platform that was developed by the 3DO Company. The aim was to develop a CD-Rom based platform that could be used by other console manufacturers. The first model that used this platform (1993) was the Panasonic FZ-1 R.E.A.L. 3DO Interactive Multiplayer. Later on (1994) also Sanyo and Goldstar released 3DO game consoles. The first 3DO consoles had a rather high price tag and they could not compete with the very popular PS1. Production of 3DO based consoles was discontinued in 1996. 3DO games are region free.
