Details

foc Tales of mystery and imagination is The Alan Parsons Project's first concept album from 1976. The album was recorded at Abbey Road studios in August 1975 and released in 1976. In 1987 it was re-released on CD, with an introduction voiced by Orson Welles added. The prelude to "The fall of the House of Usher" is based on the prelude to Claude Debussy's unfinished opera La Chute de la Maison Usher (1908-1916). This is not mentioned on the cover. There is one recording of this unfinished opera on EMI, which was only made in the 1980s. The album is based on the stories of the writer Edgar Allan Poe.
