Cover of Maghella no. 51 "La foresta innaturale" (1976). Size: cm 43 x 30.5. In very good condition. Averardo Ciriello (Milan, 28 May 1918 - Rome, 5 November 2016) was an Italian illustrator. He was born in Milan, he lived in Trieste and then returned to the regional capital of Lombardy, he already drew at the age of 17 and at the age of 24 he began as a cartoonist on the weekly magazine “Acqua salata” to then reach the pages of the important publication “Intrepido” by Cino Del Duca in 1945, still published in newspaper format. The success came with the alluring pin-ups of the covers of the magazine “7Sette” (later “Otto” and “Otto Volante”) which turned him into the true heir of Gino Boccasile. In the 1950s he created cartoons and covers for “Marc'Aurelio” and “La Domenica del Corriere”, starting a career as poster designer for cinema that would bring him great success, creating illustrations for films such as “Divorzio all'Italiana” or “Il Casanova” by Fellini. In the period of sexy comics, he finally became the most successful illustrator of nude covers, recovering the stylistic features of youthful pin-ups, creating scenes that entered the memory of the costume for the covers of Lucifera and Maghella.
