The competition puck is made of vulcanized rubber. GIJS. (Groninger IJshockey Stichting) was founded on December 23, 1969. In 1974 the club made its first appearance at the highest level. In the 1977/1978 and 1978/1979 seasons, Groningen reached the final of the play-offs for the national title; was lost both times to the Heerenveen Flyers. The club made it to the play-offs of the 1983/1984 season, but lost it against the later national champions Nijmegen. In 1985/1986 the club took the national title for the first time in its existence. More printed pucks have been released.
