Details

Design by student Tim van Melis from Gemert. Minister of Finance Gerrit Zalm and 12-year-old Tim van Melis performed the official last battle of the latter guilder on 21 June 2001. The flagging lion was chosen from over 55,000 student submissions from three thousand primary schools. A special committee set up by the Ministry of Finance had pre-selected ten designs. A coin of these ten were minted as a test. State Secretary Wouter Bos made a choice based on the designs and patterns. The portrait side of the last guilder with an image of Queen Beatrix was designed by Michael Raedecker and Geerten Verheus. Limited Edition: 3,451 Issued as a coincard in 2016 in UNC quality by the Royal Dutch Mint.
