Details
Obv.: Facing Lion of St. Mark holding open book Rev.: Roses above and below Dalmatia & Albania The Provveditore generale (Governor-general) was the official name of Venetian state officials supervising Dalmatia. The Governors of Dalmatia were based in Zara, while they were under direct supervision of the "Provveditore Generale dello Stato da Mar", who was based in Corfu and was directly controlled by the Doge in Venice. Alvise Mocenigo III was Governor of Dalmatia (& later Doge of Venice) 1696 - 1702, and 1717 - 1720. The "Linea Moncenigo" in 1718 Dalmatia was named after him.
