Portrait of the German architect Simon Bosboom Simon Bosboom (1614-1662). He holds a compass to his chest with his left hand. In the margin the name of the sitter and a two-line caption in French. Bosboom worked in England and Germany at the court of the Elector of Brandenburg. From 1640 he worked in Nijmegen, among other things, on the extension of a poorhouse. He then contributed to the construction of the Royal Palace under Jacob van Campen. In 1651 he was employed by the municipality of Amsterdam as an under-master stonemason and in 1653 he succeeded Willem de Keyser as master stonemason.
