Half-length portrait to the right of Gaspar de Witte (1624-1681). In the background a ruin. Below the print his name and four lines of text in French. De Witte was a Flemish painter from the Baroque period who was especially known for his landscape paintings. He learned the trade from his father Peter de Witte (II). He traveled to Rome around 1646 and became a member of the Bentvueghels, an association of mainly Dutch and Flemish artists working in Rome. He returned to Antwerp in 1650. Etching and engraving by Richard Collin (1626-1701), after the painting by Antoni I Goubau (1616-1698). Made in Antwerp in 1662. Signed and dated in print.
