Half-length portrait to the right of Schelte Adamsz. à Bolswert (ca.1586 - 1659). In 1617 Schelte works for the Plantijn book printing company. In 1625/26 Schelte acquires the position of Free Mastership at the Guild of Saint Luke and, after a short stay in Brussels, he settles permanently in Antwerp. In the second half of the 1620s, Schelte starts working for Rubens. In total, Schelte has engraved around eighty prints after a design by Rubens. He has also worked for various other Antwerp painters, including Jacob Jordaens, Gerard Seghers and Theodoor Rombouts. Schelte is considered one of the most gifted engravers from the Rubens School.
