Portrait bust within oval of Jean Comte de Gassion (1609-1647). Below the portrait are coat of arms and biographical information about the sitter in French. De Gassion was a prominent French soldier, who excelled at the battle of Rocroi (1643). He became Marshal of France at 34 and served under Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
