Frederick II was King of Sicily from 1198, German King from 1215 and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1220 to 1250. Frederick was the son of Henry VI of Hohenstaufen and Constance of Sicily. Through his mother he was the grandson of Rogier II of Sicily. Through his father he was the grandson of Frederick I of Hohenstaufen nicknamed Frederik Barbarossa.
