Portrait bust to the left of Petrus Burman (1668-1741), in an oval with an architectural frame, consisting of two pilasters supporting an arch, above the portrait a keystone, below the portrait a pedestal with inscription. Burman was Professor of History, Rhetoric and Politics in Utrecht and Leiden. He has a large number of works to his credit and participated fully in the literary discussions of his time. Copper engraving by Jacob Houbraken (1698-1780), after the painting by Hieronymus van der Mij (1686-1761). Published in Leiden by Samuel Luchtmans, ca.1727. Signed in print.
