Portrait of Eleonora of Bourbon-Condé (1587-1619), knee piece to the right. The princess has a handkerchief in her left hand. She was the daughter of Henry I of Bourbon-Condé and his second wife Charlotte de la Tremoille. She was also the niece of King Henry IV of France. In Fontainebleau she married Philip William of Orange, the eldest son of Prince William I. When her husband died after a wrong medical treatment, Eleonora inherited nothing, since Philip William had left all his possessions to his half-brother Maurits. Etching and engraving by Pieter I de Jode (1570-1634), signed lower right in print. Made around 1610. Source: Voorne-Putten and Rozenburg regional archives, 2015.
