Portrait bust to the right within oval of General Jean-Baptiste Jourdan (1762-1833), from 1819 Count Jourdan. He was a French soldier, politician and marshal of France. Jourdan became a prominent supporter of Napoleon during the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire. As a thank you, Napoleon appointed him Inspector General of Cavalry and Infantry in 1800 and in 1804 he was given the title of Marshal of France.
