Half-length portrait to the right of Christian Freiherr von Wolff (1679-1754). His right hand rests on a book. In the background a full bookcase. At the top left behind a curtain. At the bottom are coat of arms and text in Latin. Von Wolff was a German legal scholar, philosopher, political thinker and one of the most important figures in the German Enlightenment. He exerted his greatest influence on international law. Copper engraving by Johann Martin Bernigeroth (1713-1767). Made in Leipzig in 1755. Signed and dated in print.
