Original political cartoon done on card in pen, brush and ink for the British Ministry of Information, 1940, shows Hitler sleeping peacefully at the Berghof in Berchtesgaden dreaming of receiving a humble Churchill (‘You can take it’) and Roosevelt (We’ll stay put’). The pasted caption is an extract from ‘Mein Kampf’ and reads: ‘For the first time Germany would have allies who would not be as vampires on her economic body but would contribute their part to complete our technical equipment’ - Chapter XIV page 366. This is one of a series of illustrations by Flatter satirizing ‘Mein Kampf’. Hitler’s hopes in this case are no more than a pipe dream. Framed and matted for an overall size of 80 x 65 cm, image size 55 x 47 cm. Caption pasted on bottom right. Not signed, but most certainly by Flatter. In good condition.
