Oval with portrait bust of the French writer Françoise de Graffigny (1695-1758). Lithograph after a drawing by Nicolas Henri Jacob (1782-1871). Made by Lithographe de Constans, ca. 1830.. Françoise de Graffigny became known as the author of "Lettres d'une Péruvienne" (1747). After the premiere of her play "Cénie" in 1750, she was one of the most famous women of her time. Today she is regarded as one of the best French writers of the 18th century.
