Copper engraving of Thomas Howard, Earl of Arundel, Surrey and Norfolk (1585-1646). Published by Baltazar Moncornet (ca. 1600-1668), in 1651. Signed and dated in print. Thomas Howard was an important politician under James I and Charles I, but was best known as a collector. Much of his collection of antique sculptures came into the possession of the University of Oxford and is known as the Arundel marbles. Source: Stanford University Libraries, 2014.
