Ice hockey club Thialf was founded in Heerenveen in 1967. Since 1975 the club is called "Flyers". During Feenstra Heating's sponsorship period, the Flyers became national champions seven times in a row (1977-1983). Subsequently, the Flyers again became national champions in 2016 and 2017. Gedurende de sponsorperiode van Feenstra Verwarming werden de Flyers zeven keer op rij landskampioen (1977-1983). Vervolgens werden de Flyers in 2016 en 2017 opnieuw Landskampioen. Tot en met seizoen 2020 veroverden de Flyers maar liefst dertien keer de Nationale Beker.
