In 1964, the first instance of #1000 Straight Leg Allan emerged, He has sported molded red hair and brown eyes. His distinctive mark read: ©1960 by Mattel, Inc., Hawthorne, Calif., U.S.A. Allan held the title of Midge (Hadley's) boyfriend. In an uncommon move, Mattel bestowed upon Allan the surname "Sherwood." Notably, he and Ken were the sole male figures to be granted surnames.
Allan drew his name from Barbara Handler's former spouse, Allan Segal. The discontinuation of Allan occurred after his second release in 1965, coinciding with the divorce of Barbara and Allan during the 1960s. While a limited quantity of these dolls remained accessible until 1966, Allan did not resurface until 1990 when Mattel introduced a fresh iteration.
Within the packaging, the straight leg variations were outfitted in blue shorts, a horizontally striped jacket (though some exhibited vertical stripes), blue strap cork sandals, a black wire stand, and an accompanying booklet.
