Oval portrait with title in border, within rectangular frame, of Francisco Hurtado de Mendoza (1546-1623), admirant of Aragon. During the Eighty Years' War he was an army commander under Philip II. In 1600 he was captured by the Statesmen at the Battle of Nieuwpoort. Ovaal portret met titel in rand, binnen rechthoekig kader van Francisco Hurtado de Mendoza (1546-1623), admirant van Aragon. Tijdens de 80-Jarige Oorlog was hij legeraanvoerder onder Filips II. In 1600 werd hij bij de Slag bij Nieuwpoort gevangen genomen door de Staatsen.
