John Webber (1751-1793) was de official artist of James Cook’s third voyage. The much delayed first edition sold out in three days in 1784. This engraving is part of the first Dutch edition of Cook’s Third Voyage, published around 1794. It is saying “Gezigt van de Karakakooa baai aan het eiland Owhijhee". The plate is numbered “Pl. CXVIII”. The engraving is in very good condition. Just the left fold is somewhat obvious.
