Scholten does mention the coin in 1951 in his catalog "The coins of the Dutch territories overseas 1601-1948" The late Lionel Sluiter explains in his book "VOC duiten complete" that these 19th century VOC duiten with Utrecht coat of arms and year 1790 in three issues. 1st Issue (this copy), struck in 1817 in Utrecht with the (1st) mint master's mark of YDC Suermondt. 2nd Issue (KM# 111.3) minted in 1827 in Utrecht with mint master mark a star between two dots. 3rd Issue (KM# 111.4, Scholten #745) minted in the period 1840-43 at the mint in Soerabaja and the auxiliary mint in Batavia. The stamps for these coins were made in Utrecht and bear the mint master's mark star.
