Mikhail Ashkhotov, (1959) comes from Naltscik, the former Soviet Union, in the north of the Caucasus. He was educated at the famous Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, graduating from the academy in 1991. In 1991 he took part in group exhibitions in Saint Petersburg and Helsinki.
