Details

This is the first Dutch Science fiction. Original edition, anonymous, by T. Tjallingius, Hoorn, 1777. Later attributed to Betje Wolff. According to Reinsma, a copy of this writing is in the Oud-Archief in Vlissingen. The 1978 edition is a reissue and as such a "First Edition". The subtitle is important and must be quoted. Wolff was inspired by the book by [Louis] Sébastien Mercier: "L'an 2440" (1st edition 1771). The famous French author Mercier was "one of the most prolific writers of his time"). Its full title is “L'An 2440, rêve s'il en fut jamais.” This book, considered the first French SF (“uchronie”; roman d'anticipation), was very successful in and outside France. In Amsterdam!
