Details
The wine brick red with a tawny rim. It is faint mist of sediments, but still clear and brilliant looking baffling considering the antiquity. At this point, Las Cases 1940 is wide open, and yet heavenly layered compact. The bouquet is filled with floating dried fruits, figs, cassis and sweet marmalade. An additional layer is created with subtle aromas of almonds, spices and earthy gamey. There is a very clear mint flavor in consultation with a two-sided complex minerality of smoke and metal. Absolutely absurd! These tannins have matured in top quality! At the time they write smooth smooth, soft and voluptuous. Everything seems incredibly integrated and balanced. The amount of flavor intensity is spot-on with the rest of the wine, and so is the complexity and the high degree of acidity. The formation is really indescribable. On the mid-palate the wine shines with cherry-like fruit, some oak spices that later draws to a majestic height of extra fruit and light tobacco hints. This wine is enough to make any wine lover sentimental. The tasting is an example of this bottle is simply first class - Mis en bouteille au château and shoulder top, to some extent still alive. It is smooth, elegant, aristocratic, but the key is still in balance. In 'The 1000 Finest Wines Ever Made' 97 points
