House coin of the House of Military Detention in Leiden. This is a uniform coin, struck on 's Rijks Munt. There were 1 / 2c, 1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and 1 guilder coins. On the front, space was left in the middle for the striking in the prison itself of a "city letter", in this case the straight L of Leiden. Only in Woerden coins (with the exception of the guilder) were put into circulation without a letter. These uniform coins were put into use in 1834, except in Leeuwarden, which was not until 1847.
