Box (237x148x95mm) is of American origin. Made of heavy cardboard. On the outside pasted with black paper. The attached lid features an illustration of Mah Jongg playing Chinese. The inside is covered with white paper. Behind the attached front there a four trays for the tiles and one higher tray for the counters, dice and wind indicators. An instruction manual is also enclosed. Tiles (23x32x11mm) are made of plain wood. On top covered with a thin layer of ivory colored paint printed with rather free interpretations of monochrome characters and images. There are no spare tiles. Counters are square sticks of untreated wood. Plain, in red, in yellow and in brown. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. Wind indicators are copper disc with embossed initials. Their container is a wooden, bone colored, Western version of a Ming box. Instruction manual is a red booklet with the Babcock Rules, 13th printing, January 1924.
