Box (225x150x103mm) is most likely of Canadian origin. Made from cardboard covered with slightly faded black bookbinders’ linen. With attached lid. The inside of the box and drawers is covered with red paper. There are five cardboard drawers with lift up-and-out ribbons. Four for the tiles. One with partitions for counters etc. An instruction manual is also enclosed. Tiles (22x31x14mm) are made of plain wood covered on top with a thin layer of ivory colored, synthetic material. They are rather rectangular and high. Characters and images are crudely imprinted. Dots 9 is diamond-shaped. Bamboo 1 is a bamboo shoot. Bamboo 8 is an unusual cross. There are 3 spare tiles. Counters are strips of ivory white, pink and turquoise celluloid. Their denomination is not clear. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. Wind indicators one big disk made of celluloid and printed with the logo of the Chinese Game Company Montreal. Instruction manual is a booklet belonging to the set. It is the 2nd ©1924 edited by Chinese Game Company Montreal. In the back their is a score sheet. There is also a loose score card of the same maker.
