Made in England by The Chad Valley Co. Ltd. The company once was one of England’s most important toy makers. Chad Valley has used its design for boxes, tiles, wind indicators and instruction booklets over and over for some thirty years. Box (205x137x37mm) is English. It is made of cardboard covered with red paper. It is Chad Valley’s cheapest set. The low box has a loose lid with the typical Chad Valley label featuring a rather unique black version of the logo. The interior has just one small compartment for counters etc. Four racks of green colored wood are also included. Tiles (23x32x2mm) are English. They are made from heavy cardboard covered with paper labels with the CV-characters and graphics printed in 3 colors. With on the back brown paper. Dots and Bamboos are more detailed. Bamboo 1 features a peacock. There are 4 spare tiles. A summary of the tiles are shown on the inside of the lid. Counters are strips of thick paper in various colors. Value is uncertain. Dice (2x) are made of rough, blackened wood with rounded corners and Western points. Wind indicators (4x) are made from cardboard with glued-on Chad Valley wind characters. Instructions are printed on a undated leaflet printed. * On the label the name of a former owner has been written.
