Box (175x152x96mm) is of American origin. Made of thick cardboard covered with ‘metallic’ paper. Low and rectangular model. A brass label with the Babcock logo and Parker Bros info, has been fastened to the attached lid that closes with a push button. Inside there are two compartments. A big one holding four trays with tiles. A smaller one for counters and dice. Tiles (21x30x11mm) are made of attractive wood. With on top a thin layer of ivory colored paint. Printed with standard characters and images in four colors. There are (belong) no spare tiles (to the set). Each Dots 1 shows a different Chinese character. Counters are flat and thin strips of an ivory colored synthetic material. The Western denomination is printed in dots and numbers. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. There belong no wind indicators to the set. Instruction manual is the red Babcock booklet. A special publication for/by Parker Bros inc. Copyright 1923. There is also a loose leaflet about Mah Jongg racks. Parker Bros (a.o. the maker of Monopoly) has marketed a variety of Mah Jongg sets in various price ranges. The set is in good condition.
