Box (207x137x85mm) is of American origin. Made of cardboard pasted with black textured paper. Standard model with attached lid and flip front. With four drawers for tiles and 4 small containers for counters and dice. The box features the two characteristic Milton Bradley items. The on purpose torn sticker (in orange) with Chinese characters and the (orange) silk tassel. Tiles (20x30x11mm) are made of wood. The white top is printed in three colors with Milton Bradley’s own interpretation of characters and images. De bottom in black with white edges. Each Dots 1 shows a different Chinese character. Counters are thin strips of celluloid. In the colors pink, white, light blue and transparent orange and with different lengths. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. According to the instruction manual there belong no spare tiles and wind indicators to the set. Instruction manual is an own and accompanying publication by Milton Bradley Company (‘Makers of the Worlds Best Games’). Copyright 1923. The cover of the booklet is, apart from some discoloration, similar to the inside of the box. Inside the tiles are shown. The box and set are in mint condition.
