Details
Box (242x177x178mm) is of Western origin. Made of wood covered with black bookbinders linen. With on top an handle and golden initials: GMCN - 1924. The two small doors have messing hinges and lock-with-(provisional gold colored) key. Inside the 5 drawers have brass rings. There is also special room for an instruction manual. De bottom of the box has been replaced. Tiles (21x31x14mm) are made of an average quality bone and bamboo . The engraving is plain. There are no spare tiles. Counters are made of clean, polished bone with Western denomination. Dice (4x) are made of bone with Chinese points. Their container is a Cricket box. Wind discs are made of bone with green characters. Their container is a Ming-box. Instruction manual is the standard, again and again reprinted Chinese booklet. This time with an extra cover with a title ‘Mah Gang’ and a writer called Harold Sterling.
