Details
Box (198x175x220mm), is made of attractive, light colored wood. It is one of those square versions The Mah Jongg Sales co. ordered in China. It has a, by means of a bone button, spring operated click&shut front that slides under the bottom drawer. Carved on the front is a golden Babcock-logo and on each side a Green and Red dragon. There are no copper corner ornaments. The 5 drawers feature bone buttons. The backside is fastened with small screws instead of nails. Tiles (21x30x14mm) are made of high quality, thick bone and relatively thin bamboo. The engraving is first-rate and uses the elaborate version of Characters, Bamboos and Dots. There are 4 spare tiles. Counters are made of high quality bone with Western denomination that differ from the usual denomination. The 2p counters have their points next to each other instead of on top of. The 10p counters are red instead of black. Dice (4x) are made of bone with Chinese points. Their container is a Cricket box. Wind discs are made of black horn with white characters. Their Ming cylinder is also black horn. Instruction manual is a English version (with a beige cover) of the ‘Lung Chan’ booklet dated 1924. With its remarkable images of Mah Jongg playing ladies.
