Catalogue information
Please note: this release is a recently made copy. The movie "If you understand what I mean" was (mainly) based on the story "Heer Bommel en de zwelbast". Prior to the film, the story was partly rewritten and supplemented with parts from the story "De doffe Doffer" in order to be able to film it. A thick book (184 pages) was made (part 1) to inform the parties involved (employees, film company) and to ask for comments on the textual result. Shortly afterwards, an addendum was published: in that second book (34 pages) the adaptations and additions proposed (mainly by Marten Toonder) were presented. Together, these two books together form the film story as we know it. The third item is the main figure book (24 pages). It is filled with unique and unknown drawings of all the main characters in all kinds of positions and poses. An edition of 25 copies was ever made of these three books.
