Details
Box (242x162x145mm) is of American origin. Made of wood covered with tin printed in black, red and gold. Standard 5-drawer box a loose sliding front. The drawers too are covered with tin and have metal buttons. On the sliding front one of Piroxloids’ characteristic icons is shown: the Mandarin. On both sides one other icon has been used: the Chinaman with the big straw hat. The box, that underwent some restoration, has one standard American handle on top. Tiles (22x32x8mm) have a celluloid (French Ivory) top and a bottom of black synthetic material. The tiles are typical for Piroxloid. Like the bird on Bamboo 1, the letters on the Dragons and the the flower tiles. They are printed in red, green and blue. There belong no spare tiles to the set. Counters are sturdy strips of shiny, French Ivory celluloid with Western denomination. Dice are made of shiny, French Ivory celluloid with Western points. Wind indicators are made of French Ivory celluloid. There containers is made of thin celluloid with a N-wind character on the lid. Instruction manual is the standard Piroxloid booklet (© 1923) with the Chinaman-with-Hat on the cover. All tiles are displayed in the manual.
